Color Schemes

Weddings are typically known for their color schemes (among other things), and besides the cake, it's one of my favorite parts of weddings. Now marriage is no where on my radar and the only reason I look at wedding blogs is to see interesting color schemes (and pretty flowers and yummy cake) that can help inspired designs! I stumbled upon one wedding site, 100LayerCake. It's really just a blog right now, apparently more is coming soon. but they provide great visuals of color schemes! I just love them.

Delicious! I love color schemes! They really are inspiring, specially if you've never thought of pairing one color with another. Wedding blogs/sites usually have some amazing print work featured on them too. People have gotten really creative with their invitations, place markers, and favors. Check out 100LayerCake and get inspired!

I love Ikea.

I love ikea so much. No matter what!

Chocolate Milk to Vintage Design

Chocolate Milk is a trending topic on Twitter right now. Haha - this is quite amusing to me for some reason... probably because I LOVE chocolate milk! Yumm.
So this inspired me to Google/Flickr search "chocolate milk" and see if anything interesting pops up. Here are some of the entertaining images I came across.

Not, very successful in the interesting design aspect, but I am always a fan of vintage package design. I have a few old magazines from the 50's and 60's and I love looking at and studying. Classically designed ads, old lingo, and a personality that is completely different than what you see now.

Shwood Sunglasses "Experiment With Nature"

Wow. I want these. Portland's Shwood Sunglasses is blowing my mind. I want to wear them all day and all night. And not because my future is so bright, I just ADORED these! They are wooden frames. Beautiful, wooden frames. Like the classic Wayfarers, but better. Much better. It's such a fresh spin to put on sunglasses, specially in a world where everyone is wearing the same thing on their face. They handcraft these sunglasses out of Zebrawood, Wenge and Maple while making sure that the beautiful grain is preserved and on display.

Here is what they have to say about their amazing product on their website...
"A simple experiment with nature. A brand spawned from nothing more than the constant search for fresh aesthetic appeal. Utilizing one of the earth’s most abundant natural resources, Shwood is handcrafted eyewear created with the intent of individuality and uniqueness that can only be found in natural surroundings. Free from passing trends, the brand’s focus remains that of its roots, innovation and creation. Long live creativity.

Shwood’s in-house manufacturing process merges precision technology with classic skilled craftsmanship to create a timeless art form. Every step from veneering and precision ply cutting, to shaping and finishing is conducted in our own Portland-based workshop to promise an entirely handcrafted eyewear piece. Wood manipulation is kept to a minimum in order to showcase the medium’s natural and unique splendor. All models are accompanied by 100% UVA/UVB protection Carl Zeiss lenses imported from Italy. Polarized lenses are also available."

Fage - Personal Work

For one of my classes this semester my partner and I had to do a campaign for Fage Greek Yogurt. This is what we did. We created on site ads for inside a shopping cart of basket, a sticker to put on foods that can be paired with Fage, and a grocery divider for the check out line. The we went to a store and broke the rules by taking pictures. luckily they didn't catch us until we had finished! Huzzah! But they were nice and didn't hold it against us.  This is our final product...

Apparently some people loved it, and some people hated it. Any feedback is welcome to help a student better her work!

Check out Fage! It's delicious! I had never heard of it before we had this assignment and now I eat it often!

Kalle Gustafsson

Kalle Gustafsson is a hugely talented photographer. The color in his photograph is amazing and his lighting is always fabulous. His images are sharp and beautiful. The way he stylizes them makes them seem vintage, or not even photographs at all. His film shorts have the same feel as well. They all have fantastic composition, mood, and energy.
I adore his work! So inspiring! They make me want to time travel, or pick up my camera and just shooting random things.
I absolutely love the work he did for Fila. It tells a story and is just quite beautiful with its saturated colors and intense mood.
Here are a few random things form his website. His images are down-right sexy! Check out his work and keep yourself from drooling.
